We are finding a lot of interest in Labrador Retriever photography in St. Louis. And, it’s hard to disagree that the most famous Lab of all time is none other than Old Yeller.

While called a mongrel in the movie, Yeller was actually a Lab and English Mastiff cross. But his heart was all Lab. Watch the movie (here’s a Yeller teaser) and tell us with a straight face you didn’t cry at the end.

Norman is our featured Labrador Retriever. He is a four-year-old black Lab who is brave, funny and curious. With unrelenting energy he guards his fenced back yard. And it must work because he keeps the coyotes, deer and foxes on their toes.

Just like Yeller.

Labs steal hearts everywhere

Labs are versatile. One minute they are chasing a tennis ball, and the next they are cuddling on the couch. These dogs are natural athletes, so they thrive with active families who love outdoor adventures. Hiking, swimming or just chasing after a stick in the backyard? Labs are all in!

And let’s not forget their intelligence. Labs excel in obedience training, agility courses and even service work. From guide dogs to therapy companions, these clever canines are true overachievers. But don’t let their smarts fool you—they’ve also mastered the art of looking adorable while doing absolutely nothing.

Labs come in three classic colors: black, yellow, and chocolate. Fun fact: all Labs are born with a gene for black fur, but additional genes determine whether they’ll turn yellow or chocolate! They were originally bred to help fishermen in Newfoundland, Canada, retrieve fish and nets. Their love of water goes back generations!
