Ballwin is one of those places where dogs feel at home — wide sidewalks, shady parks, quiet trails, and a pace that lets them relax and be themselves.

That’s exactly what makes it such a great place for outdoor pet and family photography.

Whether your dog loves to run, sniff, or stay close by your side, Ballwin gives us the space and natural light to capture them the way you see them every day.

Why Ballwin is a great place to photograph your dog

We love Ballwin for its mix of open space, neighborhood charm, and peaceful green areas that help dogs feel comfortable in front of the camera.

From large parks to tucked-away paths near home, this part of West County offers a wide variety of backdrops that work beautifully for both action shots and quiet, emotional portraits.

Our top dog-friendly locations in Ballwin

Vlasis Park. Ballwin’s largest park with open fields, a lake, walking trails, and shaded areas — perfect for classic portraits or playful action shots.

New Ballwin Park. A quieter alternative with fewer distractions. Great for shy dogs or those who need a calmer setting.

Neighborhood paths and greenspaces. Some of the best sessions happen right near home. We love the light and privacy Ballwin’s residential greenspaces offer, especially around golden hour.

Prospect Creek Dog Park. A fenced, off-leash option for dogs who enjoy social play and wide-open running.

Why Ballwin families choose us

We specialize in families who include their pets as part of their story.

With decades of experience photographing animals — from wildlife and birds to dogs and horses — we understand movement, timing, and emotion in a way few photographers do. That experience keeps sessions calm, safe, and fun for both kids and pets.

Gracie’s Corner: Three favorite things about Ballwin

By Gracie Ann Gurley, Brand Ambassador and Chief Stick Evaluator

1. Vlasis Park smells like a snack run. Every time I go there, I find a new scent. Geese, pizza, ducks, hot dogs—there’s always something new. Additionally, there’s also a lake, but I don’t swim too much… I pose.

2. It’s calm without being boring. Ballwin feels friendly. Nobody’s in a rush. I always get a lot of attention, which is my goal. We’ve walked all over the trails, and I’ve never had to bark at anything suspicious. That makes me (and the camera) very happy.

3. The grass is just right. Some places have pokey grass. Not Ballwin. The parks here are great for rolling or lying dramatically in the sun like I’m in a shampoo commercial.

Not in this part of town? No problem

We photograph dogs and families throughout west county and the metro east, including Chesterfield, Ellisville, Manchester, Maryland Heights, Town & Country. and Columbia and Belleville in Illinois.

Frequently Asked Questions-FAQs (Ballwin)

Do you only photograph in Ballwin?
No — Ballwin is one of our favorite west county locations, but we photograph dogs and families throughout the St. Louis area, including Chesterfield, Ellisville, Manchester, and surrounding communities.

What if my dog needs to stay on leash?
That’s completely fine. Most parks require leashes. In many cases, we can remove leashes and collars during editing so your photos look natural and clean.

Can our family be in the photos too?
Absolutely. Many Ballwin clients book us specifically to include their whole family along with their dog.

What if my dog is shy or reactive?
We’ll choose quieter spots like New Ballwin Park or neighborhood greenspaces to keep things calm and comfortable.
